Council Welcomes Summer Intern Bryce Vaughn

8735561545 0d0393680cEach year, the Nebraska Corn Board selects five students and places them with cooperators around the country to gain professional experience in the agriculture sector. This week, the U.S. Grains Council welcomed its summer intern Bryce Vaughn.

Bryce is from Alliance, Neb., and is a senior in agriculture economics with a focus on public policy and a minor in international studies at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. This summer, he will be working on trade policy issues and assisting with incoming international trade teams and other Council programs.

A-Team Application Deadline Approaching

Reminder: The deadline to apply to be on a U.S. Grains Council Advisory Team (A-Team) is April 30.

The A-Teams provide insight and guidance to the Board of Directors on the direction and activities of the Council. A-Team members serve a two-year term, renewable without limit at the discretion of the Board. Current delegates whose terms expire in 2013 must resubmit applications if they wish to continue to serve on an A-Team. Interested Council delegates not currently serving are encouraged to apply.

Applications will be reviewed by the Board of Directors, and new A-Team members will be appointed as part of the Board's meeting on August 1 in Ottawa, Canada. Chairman's Choice in Ottawa Now Available

Be sure to check out U.S. Grains Council Chairman Don Fast and his wife Sheila's list of attractions and restaurants to check out during the Council's 53 Annual Board of Delegates Meeting in Ottawa, Canada July 29-31, 2013. These recommendations are not included on Council tours, but are definitely worth visiting while you're in the area.

Don't forget to get your passport! If you're planning to attend, you must have an up-to-date passport. If your passport expires before January 2014, now is the time to start the process of renewing it. Please visit the State Department website, www.state.gov for information on obtaining or renewing a passport. Also, if you plan to bring a minor child or grandchild, go to the state.gov website for information on the documentation needed.
