“Worldwide Biotechnology Acceptance Is A Council Priority”
While some governments continue to reject or severely limit biotech crops for political reasons, responsible scientific and regulatory authorities around the world have recognized biotech crops to be wholesome, nutritious and equal in safety to conventional crops for people, livestock and the environment. Biotechnology also enhances sustainability and lowers many production costs as it allows producers to reduce irrigation, soil loss and the intensity of chemical application. For all these reasons, an increasing number of countries are accepting biotechnology that enables farmers to meet the challenges of feeding a rapidly growing world population while conserving natural resources.
The Council is encouraging influencers and policymakers to develop biotechnology policies that are science-based, risk-appropriate and consistent. Such policy guidelines make it easier to originate grain from more sources, ensuring a reliable supply for feed and food uses, lower costs and enhanced diets..
