Travel with the International Collegiate Ag Leadership (I-CAL) Program

The best way to learn about international agriculture is to experience it!

Each May, the International Collegiate Ag Leadership (I-CAL) program travels overseas to help twelve college students better understand international agriculture trade and marketing. The program is designed for students to become immersed in international agriculture and to acquire a unique cultural experience.

The 2011 program will travel to Panama and Colombia from May 16-28, 2011.

Learn about the 2011 I-CAL mission to Panama and Colombia

Twelve intrepid students from around the United States spent two weeks in Panama and Colombia learning about the agricultural practices in these countries. In Panama, I-CAL participants toured farms, schools, shipping facilities, and even an iguana breeding center! Students were especially impressed by their visit to the Panama Canal, one of the largest and most important grain shipping centers in the world. In Colombia, students toured more farms, cultural sites and an agriculture research lab. The unique challenges of agriculture in tropical environments was an important theme for this mission.

Learn about the 2010 I-CAL mission to Taiwan and Malaysia.

Students from around the country spent two weeks overseas learning about the agriculture practices of other countries.  In Malaysia, they explored a swine farm, grain facility, poultry farm and poultry processing plant.  In Taiwan, the students toured feed milling operations, grain loading facility, a grain research and development institute and local university.  The participants were also able to see several of the famous attractions of each country.
