U.S. Grains Council President and CEO Thomas C. Dorr recently traveled to Geneva, Switzerland, with USGC Trade Policy Advisory Team members for meetings that coincided with the World Trade Organization (WTO) Ministerial Conference. While the conference was not a Doha negotiating session, Dorr says, in an interview with Stacia Cudd of the National Association of Farm Broadcasting, USDA Under Secretary Jim Miller told the group the Doha Round was in the end-game. He says global competition continues to increase as it is clear the ability to produce grain throughout the world is growing. “The encouraging aspect of all of this is that there is still considerable demand for higher-quality protein consumption, meaning more meat, more milk and more eggs.” Click here to listen.
