Chris Corry
Chris Corry is senior director of international operations for the U.S. Grains Council, a non-profit organization that promotes the use of U.S. corn, barley and sorghum and related products worldwide. Corry manages the Latin American, African, European and Middle Eastern regions.
Prior to assuming this position, Corry served as the director of the Mediterranean and African regions. In this capacity, Corry was responsible for the Council’s feed grains export market development efforts in North and Sub-Saharan Africa, Israel, Cyprus, Malta and Southeastern Europe. Corry also provided oversight to the Council’s Mediterranean operations in Tunisia as well as for the Council's consultants in Morocco, Tunisia and Israel.
From 1987-90, Corry was the technical coordinator at the Council’s Washington, D.C., office, with responsibilities ranging from determining Council needs and hiring consultants for its international marketing programs to developing and organizing U.S. programs for visiting foreign trade delegations.
In 1990, Corry became the project manager for the Council’s Algerian Model Farm Project and shortly thereafter, relocated to Algiers, Algeria, where he spearheaded the Council’s market promotion efforts in North Africa. In 1991, Corry relocated to Vienna, Austria, serving as director for the Council’s Eastern European operations from 1991-93, before assuming responsibilities for the Mediterranean region.
Prior to joining the Council, Corry was a high school vocational agricultural teacher in Texas and a Peace Corps volunteer in Sierra Leone, West Africa, where he served as a farm manager and instructor at a vocational agricultural institute.
Corry, who grew up in Texas, received his bachelor’s degree in agricultural education from Sam Houston State University and attended graduate school at Texas A&M University under a fellowship, studying international agricultural development.
Corry and his wife, Liz Stajka, have three daughters, Nathalie, Gina and Ruby.
