Who We Are
Alvaro Cordero serves as the manager of global trade for the U.S. Grains Council, a non-profit organization that promotes the global use of U.S. barley, corn, sorghum and related products including ethanol and distiller’s dried grains with solubles (DDGS). In this capacity, Cordero assists with the overall coordination and management of Council programs involving distiller’s dried grains with solubles (DDGS) and sorghum.
Prior to this position, Cordero served as the Council’s manager for international operations, where he managed the marketing and coordination of projects and activities in Africa, Mexico and South America. He also assessed potential for future marketing programs in Japan, Taiwan and the Philippines.
Cordero is a Rutgers University graduate with extensive international trading and management experience. Before joining the Council in June 2009, Cordero worked as a senior trader and merchandiser for Louis Dreyfus in Wilton, Connecticut.
With full-time presence in 13 key markets and representatives in an additional 15 locations, the Council operates programs in more than 50 countries and the European Union.
